Driving through Labasheeda in Co Clare, I thought that I could continue along the coast road and ignored the right turn-off for Killimer. A couple of miles later, I found myself confronted by the Shannon, with no way across or around it.In order to get directions, I walked up to the little cottage nearby. The man who answered my knock on his door told me that I was at Battery Point, Kilkerrin – a dead end – and he pointed me back to the main road. I turned away to leave when he surprised me by asking, “Would you like to see my castle?”

A View from the top of the Lighthouse ,unfortunately my son
was unable to make the journey as it does not have disabled access(which is
acceptable considering when it was constructed and it would take from the
Lighthouse if something was constructed so).
He was kept in good spirits by the kindness of a girl on duty..

€50m investment in Foynes port.
€50m investment in Foynes port
Work will begin this month on the first element of a major restructuring of the port of
Foynes in Co Limerick.
It is part of a €50m investment in transforming the port into one of the biggest bulk
harbours in Europe.
Shannon Foynes Port Company will spend €12m on transforming the
existing East Jetty area,
and reclaiming a 3.45 acre section of the port to create a bigger foreshore
area of activity
and enable improved bulk discharge times. In time it will create capacity
for the world's largest cargo
vessels of 80,000 tonne capacity to travel and unload at Foynes,
making it one of the few ports
in Europe capable of handling these massive ships.

Foynes.30-year masterplan for Foynes port
Foynes,
with its natural deep water harbour, is the only port in Ireland which will be able to accommodate these new ‘supertankers’ in the future, which it is hoped will lead to a considerable boost in cargo.
